Mandate: To work with the new Fellows to acquaint them with the nature and purpose of the College, outline the mandates of the various committees and introduce them more fully to the College.
Construction Law Education Committee
Chair: Jason Annibale
Committee: Duncan Glaholt, Donald Goodfellow, Andrew Heal, Andrea Lee, John Margie, Marcia Oliver, Brian Samuels, John Singleton, Andrew Wallace and Mario Welsh
Mandate: To take a leading and pro-active role in facilitating, organizing and promoting construction law education across a variety of professional disciplines that serve the construction industry. The goals to be achieved in carrying out this mandate include: (i) introducing construction law as a specialized area of practice to future lawyers and other industry professionals; (ii) elevating the level of knowledge and training in our practice area for lawyers and other industry professionals; and (iii) as a by-product of the first two goals, promoting the resources and leadership that the College has to offer in construction law education.
Outreach Committee
Chair: Marina Pratchett, K.C. and Simon Grégoire

Mandate: The objective of the Outreach Committee is to identify and develop opportunities for the College and/or its individual Fellows for participation with external organizations where such opportunities have the effect of:
- raising the external profile of the College, regionally, nationally and internationally;
- enhancing the reputation of the College, its Fellows and construction lawyers generally;
- making the College a relevant organization to persons external to the College;
- providing opportunities to Fellows that might not otherwise be known or available to them;
- ensuring that the College and its individual Fellows are at the forefront of developing issues;
- improving the construction industry for all stakeholders.
Insurance and Surety Committee
Chairs: Jeremy Taitinger
Committee: Andrew Wallace, Beth Allard, Denise Bambrough, Nicolas Gagnon, Rocco Sebastiano and Tony Clark
Mandate: To provide timely information to Fellows regarding any issues, events or circumstances arising or developing in the areas of construction insurance and bonding. In that regard:
- To communicate with Fellows on a regular basis for advice as to any issues arising in practice on policies of insurance or surety bonds that they are able to disclose
- To monitor from available outside sources, any events or circumstances regarding policies of insurance or surety bonds. Outside sources could include:
- Brokers
- Surety Association of Canada
- Construction Associations
- CBA Insurance Subsection
- ABA Insurance Subsection (including Insurance Coverage litigation Committee)
- Reported Court decisions
- Any other source that the Committee thinks appropriate
- To consider and implement the best method of communicating with Fellows on items of interest in the area of insurance and bonds in the construction industry. Consideration should be given to regular input to the Legal Updates
Arbitration and Mediation Committee

Mandate: To provide timely information to Fellows regarding any issues, events or circumstances arising or developing in the areas of Arbitration and Mediation, recognizing the central role that both play in resolving construction disputes.
To that end, the Committee will:
- Communicate with Fellows on a regular basis for advice as to any issues arising in practice regarding Arbitrations and Mediations that they are able to disclose.
- Monitor from available outside sources, any events or circumstances regarding Arbitrations and Meditations, including but not limited to:
- ADRIC and Provincial Affiliates
- CBA/OBA Dispute Resolution Section
- FDIC, ICC, [OTHERS TO BE ADDED)
- Reported Court decisions
- Any other source that the Committee thinks appropriate
- Consider and implement the best method of communicating with Fellows on items of interest in the area of Arbitrations and Meditations in the construction industry, including:
- regular input to the Legal Updates
- Seminar at the CCCL Annual Conference
- Article in the CCCL Journal
Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Committee

Committee: Karen Martin, Matthew Alter, Andrea Lee, Seema Lal, Andrew Wallace and Geoff Machum
Mandate: The mandate of the Committee is to enhance equity, diversity and inclusion within the College.
Definitions of these terms as they apply to the work of this Committee are set out below. This Committee will focus on diversity as it relates to the personal characteristics that are protected by law. Issues of diversity related to geography, area of practice, practice model and other similar factors will be addressed by the membership committee and the Executive.
Definitions :
- Equity means fairness in access to opportunities for a diverse group of people, and includes breaking down structural barriers that may limit access to opportunities.
- Diversity refers to the range of differences in the personal characteristics protected
by law of the members of an organization. - Inclusion — refers to an environment in which all members feel included and respected, and have a fair opportunity to participate in the business and activities of the organization, including holding positions of influence.

Publications Committee

Mandate: The Publications Committee is responsible for creating and publishing, on an annual basis, the Journal of the CCCL (the “Journal”). The Journal contains scholarly articles of interest primarily to construction lawyers and academics, and to the legal profession in general. The Publications Committee’s mandate with respect to the Journal is to solicit, review and edit such articles in order to promote professional excellence in the study and practice of construction law. The Publications Committee is also responsible for making recommendations regarding the awarding the Stephen J. Tattrallyay Memorial Award.

Mandate: Provide Collegians with timely and interesting updates in construction law and other related topics. Promote construction law knowledge generally by publishing our work on CanLII and sharing the Legal Update Newsletter among our colleagues. Ensure a national focus and publish regular updates from all regions of Canada.

- Generally update and maintain the public website and the Fellows-only website;
- Educate the Fellows on the content, features and tools available to them on the Fellows-only website;
- Create and update a more detailed In Memorium page on the website
